Due to the rise of crime in Ghana, social gathering is one of the most popular strategies used by robbers these days. We did this article to help you avoid these threats.
Do not be eager to go outside upon hearing the MC of an event announcing your car has blocked another vehicle. This is a new trick car snatchers, armed robbers and thieves have devised to rob and even kill.
How to avoid being robbed in Ghana at social gatherings
Please, do the following when your vehicle registration number is being called out at a social gathering:
Take your time before going out.
Do not go out alone, at least in a company of three or four people.
Do not go directly to where the car is parked. Confirm from a distance if you are really blocking another car and try to confirm from afar if there is a driver in the blocked car.
Watch your surroundings carefully before approaching your vehicle.
Do not move to your vehicle when you notice a robbery set up or have any suspicions of such an activity.
Do not also make it obvious to the robbers that they’ve been spotted. Be smart, move away and call the police.
Safety and security are everyone’s responsibility. We are being cautioned to be heedful of this unfortunate robbery trick so we and our loved ones do not fall victim to such organized crimes.
What to do after you notice the robbers
Most people will panic noticing the presence of robbers at a social gathering but do not panic and do not raise any alarm. Kindly distance yourself, get to a safe place and call the police immediately.
